oh my God. i think i got my great-great grandfather's genes in me. my gggf owned a whole plot of land in bukit timah, growing everything from fruits to rubber and was damn $$$ until he got scammed. you see, he sold the land off a week before the Japs surrendered, so the payment was in banana notes and thus ...

anyway, during training, while doing exercises, i suddenly got a brilliant buisness plan. maybe about 3 people including myself set up a booth in the canteen, offering barber services. well, not the full haircut, just enough to help them pass haircheck, so essentially we are only trimming fringes, shaving sideburns and creating a clear channel above the year. maybe we can like open it on monday and wednesday mornings, say from 6.50am to 7.20am. charge about $1-$2, depending on how much we cut and whether we know the person.

there's essentially no cost price, barbers just need to know how to do basic trimming, and specialized equipment needed is just scissors, shavers and rubbish bin to collect their cut hair. basically, we would make a profit in 5 mins, assuming a customer a minute. the target customers are people who fail haircheck for various reasons and do not want to get booked or people who think they fail haircheck but actually didn't fail. assuming 1 day 20 customers, charging $1 each, and working on 2 days a week, we would make $40 a week, divided by 3 barbers,, so its $13.33 per barber for a total of an hour's work a week. $13.33 an hour. owns.

there are 4 ways to work this, 2 of which are legal. first is to do this as a self-initiated RE project, but i already have an RE project so its not quite feasible. screw it, suddenly i wished i had another year in RI to do this project for RE. second is to collaborate with RIPB, so for my last year in RI I get to operate this booth and after this year RIPB can incoporate it into the services they offer like Kemama shop, sale of badges, tie lending and blazer lending. besides, RIPB will be able to offer me instant publicity. say after morning assembly, some people fail haircheck, then the prefects can send them to us (so we have to work for about 20mins after assembly) and this time we can charge more expensive, say $2, since they do not have a choice. third option is to start it as a CCA, so we get CCA points =).the last option is illegal, which is to just set up without any approval, then running away when somebody comes, much like an olden Singapore illegal street vendor, when somebody would shout "mata, mata!" and the whole street will empty in 30 seconds. nice.

this benefits everyone. it benefits people who do not have time or cannot be bothered to go to a proper barber to cut their hair but do not wish to get booked, also since now when awarded with 3 demerit points would result in the notifying of parents. it benefits my pocket. and finally, it benefits RIPB because they won't have to book so many people for failing haircheck, with such a cheap and convinient service available. as in, you only have to come to school 10mins earlier, pay $1 and then you get to pass haircheck. also, perhaps to increase the attractiveness of the whole thing, we can get a prefect to be present when we cut their hair, so as to give approval on the neatness of their hair, thus ensuring they do not fail. or we can just bribe a prefect to walk to random people and tell them they fail haircheck, then proceed to direct them to us.
