did my first ever 3k swim today. 3k swim=60 laps of the swimming pool, which is still short of what the participants of an ironman triathlon participant (itp) would have to swim (3.86km, about 77 laps in a swimming pool.) iroman triathlon includes a 3.86km swim, a 180km cycle and a 42km run. itps have to do all that. i haven't even completed the swim leg and i'm already feeling like hell. my time for the 60 laps was 1hr 21mins, meaning an average of 1min15secs per lap, which is freaking slow, but considering i did this on impulse and on breaststroke, quite excusable. so from this, i conculde i am not cut out to be a itp. i did like 5/6 of the swim leg and i'm like dying already. i cannot imagine myself cycling for another 180km (about more than half the distance between sgp and malacca) and then another marathon after that. i think i will just collapse lol.

that was just a worse case scenario. my purpose in swimming 60 laps is not to train for a it (i'm not crazy, relax) but to maintain my fitness and improve my swimming. for this break in cross-country training, i will go and swim 3 times a week, each time 3k, and hopefully lowering my time to 1 hour at the end of the year. and today i got quite a few bruises from swimming, cause i had to wrestle my way through the mass of people. while i kicked quite a few people, i also got kicked, so tit for tat.

my arms starting feeling the strain after 35 laps and by 45 i couldn't pull really hard already. by 56 laps, i had lost most of the sensation in my arms. if i had a cramp in my legs then i would probably had drowned, being unable to paddle to safety. lol. THREEKAYFORTHEWIN
